Naming & Australia Day

Happy Naming Day Little Man.

We had a lovely day surrounded by some very wonderful, close friends.  The bittersweetness of moving away is biting thru after days like yesterday. We have been so blessed with such a loving community around us up here.
Holding onto Isobel yesterday made it all that much more clear that I will really miss (welling up) the ultra-special little people that we have watched grow around us here.

the brew.

WE'RE

MOVING

TO

VICTORIA!!

that's right, folks...
We will no longer be six days by
spaceship to anywhere.

Only a couple of minutes from
Fish Creek in South Gippsland.

contrast of sorts!

As we muddle thru the warm and hot days of summer, I find it hard to remember what it was like in the winter-time at my hometown in California.
Then my Ma reminds me...

that's my dad!

Hope you find a warm corner of the house today, Mom & Dad.
I certainly will!

Toxic

I have been living in a toxic world.
And I'm feeling it. I have a scorching headache and
I'm as cranky as a cut snake.

I have been surrounded by and onslaught of Round-up in all the paddocks around my house for the last 3 days and it seems to be RELENTLESS.

When will the world realize that that shit is bad for every living thing?
Oh, but at least Monsanto is one of the MAJOR contributors to the Pink Ribbon appeal - even though they are the bastards that cause most cancers in the first place.

WAKE UP WORLD!
GRR.

Need v Want

Okay. How awsome would it be to have your very own digital vintage Monogramed initials? Imagine what you could do with them!

There is a very (obsessed?) clever lady, Cathe Holden has compiled MANY vintage Monogramed initials and will do yours too! She also has a wicked blog - Just Something I Made.

I think this would make a very clever gift.
I would love to have a set, but we are budgeting....
But I did have to omit the budgeting yesterday as my favorite shop, Nutmeg Home in Goondiwindi is having a sale. And there's been this little Teak glass-fronted Cupboard that I have wanted for A VERY LONG TIME! The price never suited me, but they did me a great deal yesterday and it just HAD to come home with me.
It just had to.

I'm in love with Florence and the Machine - Hurricane Drunk. Good groovin' music. Also love her song "kiss with a fist" - ace! Cannot find the video for it yet... let me know if you find it..

Projects

I whipped up these skirts for 2 special little friends in town. They're actually late Chrissy presents. The pink one is for Isobel - Gretta's mate - she's a beautiful little blondie and will look fab in it. The second one is for Elsie - Baxters mate - especially for her to wear with her blue polkadot Walnut shoes.

This was my best friend's daughter, Ali's 2nd birthday pressie.  The background fabric was a special little wrap that she had as a dress when a baby, and the birdies are taken from one of her little jumpers she had when she was a baby (I love meaningful repurposing!)  Ali has the most divine hair in the world, so she obviously needed a hairclip board for her bling.

Kindy duties...

This little man makes it exceedingly difficult to read anything while feeding him.
If there is something being read behind his back he kicks his feet and pushes my chest and detaches (without letting go of suction, mind you - I think just to prove a point) to find said reading material.
Cheeky little Monkey.
He has also mastered the high pitch scream. We took him to a flouncy wouncy upmarket restaurant while we were in Victoria and he proceeded to scream down the house. He wasn't upset, tired, cranky or hungry. He had simply found his inner SCREAM!

... and on to the kindy responsibilities...

washing, ironing and mending/hemming the entire dressing-up wardrobe. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to iron these horrid plastic fabrics? Let me tell ya - there's a whole lotta polyester and lycra and viscose in this pile.
... mission accomplished and ready for the start of kindy.

P.S. poor Baxter had to model the dress-ups so that I could see where to hem. I do declare this a good blackmail photo for later.

Happy Birthday Nic!

We have just polished off GINORMOUS slices of Pav in honour of my Mr's birthday. This kids were very excited to help open parcels this morning, and the little miss was keen to try on the snorkeling gear.

What do you reckon of my very first Pavlova? It was delicious. Happy Hubby too.

thanks Yardage Design for the perfect recipe!

devilish fritters eeeek!

Apparently these are the devil.
According to the little Miss.

After 2 weeks away eating mostly CRAP while we were away... We are all feeling a bit diminished of nutrients... so I have been cooking today. We've had our doses of Cod Liver Oil and have had our Monavie juices and our Olive Leaf extracts... And just when I put something that does not resemble a sandwich or a chip, SHE bucks the system.

She was served our homegrown Zucchini Fritters for lunch.
She Refused Them.

She asked for a banana after her afternoon nap but was refused and I gave her the fritters.
She Refused Them.

She was served her fritters for dinner tonight.
She Refused Them (even with homemade chocolate pudding as bribery for dessert! (which by the way worked a charm for the big boy!))

By the morning she will be on 24 hours without food. I think I had better get my skates on in the morning and get the child some food quick smart or else I think I will have a very CRANKY pants running the show.

Do you think I should offer her the fritters again?

Am I a bad mother?

our last 2 weeks...

my sooki baby

Happy little fella at Sandy Beach.
Are you looking at his lovely little doggie teeshirt thinking, "what a dapper young man?"
Well, it's thanks to Pottymouth Mama - I won it in her giveaway a wee while ago.
Thanks Lexi - it's our new favourite worn by my "funky little monkey."

hello again!

tidal river tree
We have returned home from a magic trip south. Spent time with old friends, met new friends, and had a lovely time together. There was a lot of driving and the littlies took it like champs - except for a little (but long) stint from Parkes to Dubbo with a screaming baby, it was all pretty good! The kids think it's Christmas all over again upon returning home to all of their long lost toys and Chrissy pressies that were unwrapped, looked at for a few hours and then left in this empty house when we left on boxing day. I am still on Victoria time and fed monty at 4 a.m. and now having quiet time with my cup of English Breakfast in my teacup from my big boy with the washing machine running and the kidlets and hubby sleeping restfully in the background. It's good to be home.
