fantastic five

My big boy turns 5 tomorrow.
It's been five years since I learned that my heart was going to walk around outside my body.

I love this little man so much, and I treasure the "one on one" times that I get with him, because that's where he and I really connect.  He was only 16 1/2 months old when I gave him a sister, and just 3 something when we gave him a brother.

I wish I had more time to give you, my little man. I love you so much, and it made my heart bloom looking back at these photos today. You are such a little bright spark, and a clever little fella. We are so proud of you and love you more than the sun and the moon and the stars above.

bonnie & clyde

Introducing the latest to our menagerie of animals... Bonnie & Clyde.
Baxter has been busting to introduce his Grandma Jo and Nanny to them.

He took me into the garden with him this afternoon for a photo shoot.
I'm so glad he did. We ran and played and giggled and chased. I loved it. So did my biggest boy.
How in the world did it already get to be the time that he starts school next year? HOW?

Have a happy day.

to market. to market.

On Saturday Baxter went to the Farmers Market in Foster with homegrown lemons, rosemary and my very first ever Autumn Corn Relish. He took his proceeds to the Tractor Shop yesterday to buy a little somethin. Jackie was wonderful to include us in her stall and we had a lovely time meeting new people and visiting.  We would really love to take some farm fresh "bath milk" to sell one day with some biodynamic free range eggs.  We are hoping to do that next spring. Got any tips? Do you think it would be well received? Know of anybody doing that?

Good to be Four.

Big Boy reckons it's good to be 4.

He nearly wore out his little green crocs yesterday on his new balance bike. Seems to be the bee's knees.

I think he would have had all of his meals served to him on his bike yesterday if he could.  By the afternoon - he was ripping down the hills at the dairy - feet up and balancing really well. It may not be long before we are replacing it with a real big boy bike and put the pink child on it.

He got some fun toys and books - but was not overspoiled.. which I like. Sometimes kids get SO much!
He loved his spiderman teeshirt from the Geary's. I never buy him this kind of thing - but he totally digs it.

We spent the afternoon at Walkerville beach perusing thru the rockpools and of course - Baxter riding his bike on the beach and into the surf.
Finished the night off with his favourite - Carbonara. He was busted!

Mother of a 4 year old.

4 years ago today I gave birth to my very first child.

I never knew that I could love SO much.

Happy Birthday Baxter Frederick.
I love you more than the sun and the moon and the stars above.

parfait on a tree, anyone?

Changing this little man's nappy is now like trying to nail parfait to a tree.
He arches his back, flails his arms, buckshots his legs and grabs hold of anything in reach. I do believe that he is part heffalump. But 100% delectable. ...and yes, that's him standing up.

this is the daddy dogpile. they are all over him when he gets home from being in the yards.
Do you think they're attracted to eau de parfum de warthog?

"I don't like what the humiditiy is doing to my hair! ROAR!"
This is actually herself being a lion in the nuddy noo nar. Frightening. V. frightening.
...but most frightening of all is what the humidity is doing to MY hair. Oh well - the packing boxes do not mind if I look like Medusa.
