more renno's

Still trucking away with the farmhouse.  We've had amazing builders and painters in and they're doing a great job.  We've found some real treasures at our friend Tim's place over in Wonthaggi. Second hand doors, and have a go at the pressed tin! Should be thinking about moving after next week.. Fingers crossed.

Have a happy day. xx

prom birthday

We had a sublime day at Wilsons Promontory today.
Cut some sandwiches and cut a Guinness cake for my birthday tomorrow.
A bit of sun, a bit of fun and a much better breath of fresh air to start another week.
It's great to make some new friends, and have some time with the old ones too. My mate, Kellie has been down helping me do the grunt jobs during the farmhouse renno's. She's been great for the grunt work, but even better to just have a friend to pal around with! Stunning picture of her, don't you think?

How was your weekend?

really really ready to get to the farm.

Our freshly painted flame red mailbox is now out on the road over at the farm.
Beats the pants off the old drench drum!

The farmhouse will be empty after this weekend
- ready for some brightening up and the Paul family to get there.

It has been wonderful being able to live in our friend's house for the last 6 months, but will be really good to complete the picture by living there finally!

Let alone being able to nip out to check calving cows, nip out to shut the chooks away, nip out to take daddy a cuppa in the shed, etc. etc. etc. etc.  The list is a mile long....

and... to finally make our family home permanent... as we've been on a "let's just go there temporarily" thing for a few YEARS while we've been waiting for the planets to align for us to have found our new home, doing something that we believe in wholeheartedly and are passionate about. Hurrah!

I'm ready to trade in my gumboots for my Birkenstocks. Hopefully it decides to warm up soon so that I can live in my beautiful German shoes for another summer.

I guess the garden is deciding that it is spring anyway!......

Have a happy day.
P.S. It is my Grandparent's 63rd Wedding Anniversary today.  Happy Anniversary Grandma & Grandpa.

bonnie & clyde

Introducing the latest to our menagerie of animals... Bonnie & Clyde.
Baxter has been busting to introduce his Grandma Jo and Nanny to them.

He took me into the garden with him this afternoon for a photo shoot.
I'm so glad he did. We ran and played and giggled and chased. I loved it. So did my biggest boy.
How in the world did it already get to be the time that he starts school next year? HOW?

Have a happy day.

seeing red

Shed door and mailbox - Flame Red - check.

old bench pulled out of in-law's shed many years ago...

white and primed ready to go.  Can't decide to leave it white, paint it red, or make a cute little cushion to tie on it.  I have some great fabric from our trip to the states, so I think the latter will win out.

Little wooden chair from a dilapidated house in NZ many years ago - painted "bedazzled"

...Now just 2 wardrobes to paint, a superb little towel cupboard I snapped up at the Southern Bazaar, and I'm sure I'll find a couple more things to do before I lay down my paintbrush.

We will be working on the farmhouse as of next week. Hurrah! It will be amazing to actually be living there.  There's a bit of painting to be done first.. and floor-coverings, and a kitchen to put in...  Might be a busy month ahead of us.

And a little Note to Self for Monty....

Teeth are not for smooching.
No, but holding your mama firmly by her ears, hair or cheeks,
opening wide with a good line of drool coming out of your gob and saying arrraaagh
while smothering me in slobber makes me laugh uncontrollably until I can escape the full on Monty kiss.

Better work on your finesse a bit before you start looking for a girl to smooch.
I'm not sure she'll think it is as funny!

This is a brand new release from local Melbourne girl, Arabella Forge.
And let me tell you - it is superb!

Full of fantastic suggestions to fill your bellies with nutritious, well grown, ethical food while not breaking the bank.

Her website here. Pick up a copy you won't be disappointed!
I have been wrapped in it for the weekend and have many pages dog-eared for recipes to try.

Have a happy day.

meet "dilly"

Hello, my name is Dilly.
I was finally named and revamped today.

She had a dodgy eye and no clothes, but was/is a very close "2nd place" to her very loved bunny that is MIA at the moment.
Gretta has been begging me for ages to make her some clothes.
It felt good to take 15 minutes to make this cute little dress for her.  And to indulge my child in something that she was so very excited for.
I will have to indulge all of them a little more from now on.  I've been a bit stingy with my time being caught up with bookwork/accountants/banks/chooks/eggs/marketing/home renno planning/flu.
It felt really good.

Have a happy day. Glad our fam and friends are okay in NZ. xx

my creative space

a very special little something that has been on my mind to get done
for one VERY EXTREMELY adorable little cherub
that lives far away in Queensland.

In the mail to her momma today in hopes it might be useful for her Christening.
Oh how I wish I could be there to try and hog that little morsel of ringlet curls and chubby cheeks away from everyone else on the day.

This was my very first "creative space" from Kootoyoo!
Pop over to her for some more creative space goodness.

Have a happy day.
