Hello Love.

We've had another "appley" morning around here with the sublime aroma of stewing apples on the cooktop. I even managed to get a couple of baby jars done for the zooma.

...and meet my newest love...

I have lived in many rainy parts of the world and never had one of these.
I have welcomed it into my home with open arms. I know I know - it's not terribly environmentally friendly. But neither is an unhappy overwhelmed mama trying to get clothes that have been soaked in wee, vomit, porridge, applesauce, etc. etc. etc.
Yes, a mama like that makes an environment very un-environmentally friendly.
So - we will use this when we need it in our 40 inch rainfall home.

Have a happy day. xx

WAKE UP!

How more important does it need to get before HEALTH comes before convienience?

How many more diseases need to totally overcome society before we start to think about what we put in our mouth?

Watch this video, please.
Then sign Jamie's petition.

Then think about what you are putting in your mouth.

Wake up people. Take charge of our health. Nobody else is going to do it for us.
Especially our governments that profit from our sickness. The whole system is so corupt it makes my skin crawl.

Victoria is still in Australia.

Lastnight as I was wetting the brow of my 4 year old with a fever sometime around 2 a.m. I tried to recall just how many times my good friends have rung from Queensland.

K - 2 supa-star.
J - 2 supa-star.
T - 1
E - 0 1 she has redeemed herself (29.3.10)
E - 0
S - 0
and a few others that I would love to catch up with. - oh yes - you know who you are.

Today marks 1 MONTH living in Vic.
I have not fallen off the planet. And - I'm missing my girly chats.

I think I will have to prop my eyelids up with toothpicks today and get dialin'.

Do you know that we are going to be on a big jet plane over to the states in just over a month??
It's been 3 years and I'm looking forward to nurturing some neglected relationships over there too.
Ahh - the life of a gypsy. For some reason - I feel the "gypsying" is over. That feels good.

Saturday.

Totally loving Laura Marling at the mo.

Have been yoga'ing and on the farm this week.
lets just say that there is a lot of this on the farm.

a WHOLE lot.

So we (yes that's right - two toddlers and a baby and hubby and myself..) did a bit of fencing yesterday. Much to the delight of the Mr.

And today we let some calvies out of the shed. They get this BURST of energy and hook a 9 in their tails and let rip. I love it. Un-constrained freedom.

this is Baxter's "thinking stance" - while supervising calves.

Did you know that I am coming up to my 100th post??
Goody Goody gumdrops! I am going to do a lovely giveaway.
Watch this space.

A bit sleep deprived as the insomniac is at it again.  I guess if I were a tiny wee babe I would want to be snuggled up in bed with a hoot at 4 in the morning too. Unfortunately for Master Monty (who has now earned the nickname "zoom" from Monty-zooma) mama just want's to sleep. And so does his big brother of which he shares his room. What would a good night's sleep feel like? Really - I just want to know.

Have a happy weekend.

under construction

I'm afraid I've made some formatting mistakes and have really screwed up my blog.
I feel sick & I have no more time to try to fix it.
Bear with me.
I will try to get some of my blog back soon.

anxiously, Amy

Thursday.

Did you know that Yoga is spectacular?
I mean it - really spectacular. MW&F for me!

I came across some pictures of some of my mates before we left Toobeah - thought I'd share.. Missing these chicks.

Have a happy day.

Convinced. Totally.

I am totally convinced that we have made the right decision.
I know it in my bones. We love it here.
There is a deep satisfaction at the end of almost every day here. We are doing what we love and what we know is ethical - in every angle.  I am totally enjoying nourishing my family and spending time outside with them.  There is so many beautiful, enjoyable things to do here - and I don't think we'll grow bored of it any time soon.

I am also convinced that the following photo should be my profile picture.

amazing, eh?
Or perhaps this one?

Maybe not.

...At the risk of sounding like a hobby farmer - I will explain the above picture of "Charlie Brown."
We inspected alpacas - yes that's right - the spitting, wooly funny looking camelish thingos.
You see, they don't like foxes. And foxes really like chooks. And since we are planning on increasing our herd of chooks that now sits at about 6 to 600ish, we need some protection for the birds.
So, yes, we inspected these funny looking things yesterday and are considering buying Charlie Brown and his brothers Milo and Diez.
We also inspected some heifers that we are going to buy from an Organic farm closer to the coast.

My hearts walking around in the alpaca paddock. Gush.

Mama's musings.

How did it get to be Saturday again?
The week has flown by..

Nic is still at the dairy this morning.. He is really enjoying the new learning curve from going Organic.

Kids are watching a bit of Saturday morning cartoons.

I've got yoghurt draining, youghurt being made again, dish washer unpacked, ice-cream spinning, spinning, spinning (because I can never get my act together in the afternoon till it's too late!), Hot Cross buns in the oven (store-bought, mind you - but they're Organic and Spelt), nappy changed, baby dressed, preserving jars in the dishwasher, a mountain of clothes to fold and put away, a rather large pile of appples ready to be peeled and cored and stewed for applesauce. It is 7:19 a.m.

Farmers markets in an hour.

atrocious hair - check.
holey pajamas - check.
undressed kids - check.

Have a happy Saturday.

Walkerville Beach

Snaps from Walkerville Beach.

Apologies for the nudity - but too cute not to share. We had to gather him up off the beach when we turned around to him with a mouthful of seaweed. YUCK!

Another Magnificent day here again today. Off for an afternoon walk.

Good to be Four.

Big Boy reckons it's good to be 4.

He nearly wore out his little green crocs yesterday on his new balance bike. Seems to be the bee's knees.

I think he would have had all of his meals served to him on his bike yesterday if he could.  By the afternoon - he was ripping down the hills at the dairy - feet up and balancing really well. It may not be long before we are replacing it with a real big boy bike and put the pink child on it.

He got some fun toys and books - but was not overspoiled.. which I like. Sometimes kids get SO much!
He loved his spiderman teeshirt from the Geary's. I never buy him this kind of thing - but he totally digs it.

We spent the afternoon at Walkerville beach perusing thru the rockpools and of course - Baxter riding his bike on the beach and into the surf.
Finished the night off with his favourite - Carbonara. He was busted!

Mother of a 4 year old.

4 years ago today I gave birth to my very first child.

I never knew that I could love SO much.

Happy Birthday Baxter Frederick.
I love you more than the sun and the moon and the stars above.

bedrooms...

In Queensland we had all 3 monkeys in one room. It worked out just fine, but in this house - the only room that would fit all 3 is pink. Therefore, the pink one has been drafted off and put into the pink room along with the Queen bed for guests. She is princess of her place and we unpacked her special box yesterday and she was very happy to be reunited with her special things.

Ruby Red Shoes (the darling bunny atop the toadstool) in the top pic was an addition to her family on our drive out of Goondiwindi from Fairway Studios.  Bunny (the be all and end all in G's book) was mistakingly packed into some box in the frenzy that happened when the removalists showed up.

The Boy's room is small but working for them.. They have all the books and a changetable and are going just fine for now..

Our bedroom is my very favourite colour. Do you see the cute little glass fronted cupboard? That was my little purchase from Nutmeg Home a couple of months ago which I love! I still have to unpack a few of my special things to put out.. In due time.

We are off to Kinder today for Baxter while Gretta Monty and I go and bottle pears round at the dairy.  It is freakily raining and has been for the last 3 days. I'm sure when the sun pokes his head out we will be headed for the beach.  Have a happy day. xx

apples and oppy's

My family and I went on a small apple rampage yesterday afternoon. I made my Grandmother's apple sauce (with lots of lemony goodness - we have a lemon tree here that rival's my grandparent's uber-sweet and fragrant lemon tree which I never thought I would ever see!) and my Grandmother's apple cake.

While Gretta and I were madly stirring the cake mix, Baxter and Nic were peeling the apples with Monty on Nic's hip.  It made my heart bloom to see my whole precious little family working together with excitement in their eyes.

Delicious.
Apple cake - Gone.
applesauce on icecream tonight - check.

I fell in love with this little dish and I plan to make deviled eggs on it perhaps with a spot of parsley or something frilly(ish) in the middle.

Also - under the egg plate are 2 vintage train books that Mr. soon to be FOUR is going to be obsessed with as of Thursday.

We found a garage sale down the road on Saturday when our local town was holding it's boot sale. We got some great little bargains.. I got this cute little cupboard for ten bucks. I immediately ripped off the hideous black knob on the front and replaced with the glass knob that mom and dad brought out from the states. Lovely.
